At Stacks Editing, our seasoned professionals have had successful careers in the education field as well as in publishing and communications. Our editors have taught in public schools at the middle and high school levels. Each member of our editing team specializes in individual niche areas of masters and doctoral work such as developmental editing, manuscript evaluation, copy editing, fact-checking and indexing. Each editor brings considerable experience in their own fields and in editing.
Members of Stacks Editing, based in Augusta, Ga., have been assisting clients with their masters theses and doctoral dissertations since 1992. We are a group of experienced editors led by David Stacks, a dynamic individual who is skilled as a special-education teacher as well as a seasoned journalist, marketer and small-business owner. David Stacks, founder of Stacks Editing, is our senior editor and project consultant on each job.
Most of our clients are educators working on book manuscripts or their doctorate degrees. Other clients have sought our help with various advertising, marketing, media and book-editing projects.

David Stacks, founder of Stacks Editing, is senior editor and consultant on each client's project. Throughout each project, David Stacks provides guidance and expertise that’s backed by more than 40 years in journalism, marketing, education and leadership roles. He makes long-term connections to nurture relationships with colleagues and clients alike.
David Stacks has written or edited and supervised literally thousands of published newspaper and magazine articles. He has held writing and news management positions at all levels of daily newspapers in eight U.S. states in the South, Midwest and New England.
His work is published in a required-reading journalism textbook at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism in New York. His news-reporting team at Hilton Head Island, S.C., was honored as a finalist for the coveted Gerald Loeb Awards for Distinguished Business and Financial Journalism, presented by the UCLA Graduate School of Management.
He has mentored undergraduates at the James M. Hull College of Business at Augusta University and the Zimmerman School of Advertising and Mass Communications at the University of South Florida in Tampa. He has been a Hearst Visiting Professional at the Hussman School of Journalism and Media at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism degree.
In Augusta, Ga., where he lives, David Stacks has been a school council member at Academy of Richmond County Comprehensive High School. He served as a parent member on re-accreditation teams at Richmond Academy and C.T. Walker Traditional Magnet School.
At Hephzibah High School, David Stacks taught general-education and special-education students and served as academic coordinator and after-school tutor for varsity and junior varsity football teams. He worked in special education at Pine Hill Middle School in Hephzibah, Ga., and now teaches special-needs students at Sand Hills Psychoeducational Center in Augusta.
As a skilled orator, David Stacks has presented at numerous business and community-based events with a strong interest in civic activities.
After working as marketing director for a national sports-apparel manufacturer in Augusta, David Stacks headed an outside-sales agency specializing in telephone service for business accounts. He was a financial adviser with a national brokerage firm and president of his Rotary club. He entered public education in 2007 and became a classroom teacher in 2014. Over the years, David Stacks has amassed dozens of trainings and certifications to enrich his knowledge, skills set and ability to deliver the highest quality services and experiences to clients.
